REEF SDR-25-Mk I “Missileer” Robot Vehicle (REEF-R03):
Originally, the “Missileer” was not designed for REEF service. Instead, the robot vehicle was in large part designed by an REF Field Scientist named Kamako Katako. She designated it the SDR-25 Mk I. Not aware of the REEF forces in Florida initially, she had been living in the city of Tolkeen at the time and set up a manufacturing facility in that city for the “Missileer.” The design was sold to various mercenary companies where it an extremely popular design
Eventually, she found out about the REEF in Florida and she joined them. Her facilities were moved to the base where manufacturing continued once set up. The REEF had previously considered copying the RDF Spartan design but the role was filled mostly by ATV-2 missile launchers. Even so, the REEF did adopt the “Missileer” in moderate numbers in the roles of air defense and long range missile artillery. In REEF service, the “Missileer” has been designated the REEF-R-03. In addition, it continues to be exported to mercenary companies and continues to sell quite well.
The design used mostly Rifts Earth weapon systems although definitely has design concepts from various mecha in the Robotech Universe especially REF Zentraedi designs. Probably chief among these are the legs which are in large part copied from the REF Officer’s Battle Pod. As a result, it is quite fast with a top speed is 175 mph when running although cruise speed is usually slower, around 80 mph. This high speed allows the vehicle to be deployed rapidly and is stabilized for a surprisingly smooth ride for the crew. As well, the robot vehicle excels at leaping. Due to its high speed, some have thought the vehicle has rocket boosters.
Weapon systems are different than most REEF designs due to being an independent development. As one might expect, there has been some discussion about integrating more standard REEF weapon systems but so far the design is being manufactured as it was originally designed. One of these are the heavy rail guns. These are the CR-100R rail guns copied from the Coalition Spider Skull Walker and no other REEF designs mount them. A total of twenty-thousand rounds are carried per heavy rail gun are carried. Special discarding sabot ammunition has been developed to increase the effectiveness of the heavy rail guns although are only carried on those in REEF service. A pair of lasers based on the JA-12 Juicer assault rifle are also fitted. Most REEF vehicles mount lasers based on the Triax TX-41 Laser pulse rifles instead and one consideration is to change the pulse lasers out.
Less of a concern, the vehicle’s missile launchers are more or less standard designs. There are two box launchers which are effectively in the shoulder positions. Each box launcher has the capacity for eight long range missiles and twelve medium range missiles. For better vehicle balance, the long range missile launchers are mounted below the medium range missile launchers. When not in use, the missile launchers are protected by armored hatches. Smart missiles are usually used and the REEF usually uses the most powerful warheads including fusion warheads for the long range missile launchers.
Sensors are mostly similar to most Rifts Earth robot vehicles. One exception is that the radar system is longer ranged than the standard robot radar although not as long ranged as the radar system carried on Sentinel robot vehicle. When missiles are fired at long ranges, the Missileer needs targeting data from other vehicles or installations. It has a full data link for that purpose. The vehicle has the full life support of most robot vehicles.
Having no arms, the design is unusual in many other respects and has a cockpit more similar to what might be in an aircraft instead of a robot vehicle. The cockpit is surprisingly spacious as well. Standard crew is two although can be controlled by one crew member. With a crew of two, the gunner controls the missile launchers while the pilot operates the vehicle itself. There are spaces for three additional personnel for a total possible crew of five. In non REEF operated robot vehicles, often one of these is a vehicle commander. Often otherwise these are taken up by troops. In addition, behind the cockpit are two bunks to allow the crew to rest when not operating the robot vehicle. Additional missiles can be carried on the compartment as well but reloading is extremely slow.

Notes:
[1] These are small and difficult targets to strike, requiring the attacker to make a “called shot,” but even then the attacker is -4 to strike.
[2] Depleting the M.D.C. of the main body will shut the robot vehicle down completely, rendering it useless.
Speed:
Running: 175 mph (281.6 kph) maximum. Can sustain speed almost indefinitely. Normal cruise speed is 80 mph (128.7 kph.) The vehicle does not tire the operator.
Leaping: 50 feet (15 meters) up or across without a running start. Can add an additional 25 feet (2.3 meters) with a running start.
Underwater: It can walk along the bottom of the sea floor at 25% of maximum speed and has a maximum ocean depth of 1 mile (1.6 km).
Statistical Data:
Height: 34 feet (10.4 meters) to top of missile pack, 32 feet (9.8 meters) to top of body.
Width: 27.5 feet (8.4 meters) including the missile packs, 15 feet (4.6 meters) for the main body.
Length: 30 feet ( 9.1 meters) from front to back
Weight: 35 tons (31.8 metric tons)
Physical Strength: Equal to a P.S. 40
Power System: Nuclear, average life is 15 years
Cargo: Has a cargo space behind pilots compartment that is 8 x 6 x 6 feet (2.4 x 1.8 x 1.8 meters.) It is often used as a sleeping quarters or for extra missiles. In addition, the crew also normally has the ability to keep small gear with them.
Black Market Cost: 46 million for a new, undamaged, and fully operation robot complete with all weapons intact
Weapon Systems:
Twin (2) High Powered Rail Guns: There are two rail guns on this Mecha. There is one rail gun on either side of the main body. It draws power from the fusion reactor. The rail guns are fixed forward. The main body can tilt up and down up to 90 degrees. They are virtually identical to the rail guns on the Spider Skull Walker. It can only be fired by the pilot of the vehicle. The REEF version uses APFSDS (Armor Piercing Fin Stabilized Discarding Sabot) ammo that increases damage
Maximum Effective Range: 6,000 feet (1,828 meters).
Mega Damage: Normal Ammo; A Burst of 80 rounds does 2D4x10 M.D.C. One round does 2D4 M.D.C. APFSDS Ammo; A Burst of 80 rounds does 2D6x10 M.D.C. One round does 2D6 M.D.C.
Rate of Fire: Equal to the pilots combined hand to hand (usually 5 or 6)
Payload: 20,000 rounds per each gun. That is 250 bursts each gun. Reloading takes about one hour.
Twin (2) Nose Mounted Lasers: mounted under the cockpit of the robot vehicle, these pulse lasers are modified versions of the JA-12 Juicer Assault Rifles. Unlike the handheld rifles, these lasers pull power directly from the fusion reactor. They can be fired only by the Pilot of the vehicle.
Maximum Effective Range: 4,000 feet (1,200 meters).
Mega Damage: 4D6 for one cannon, 8D6 for both cannons, 1D6x10+10 for three round burst from one cannon, 2D6x10+20 for three round burst from both barrels (6 total shots)
Rate of Fire: Equal to the pilots combined hand to hand (usually 5 or 6)
Payload: Effectively Unlimited.
Two (2) Medium Range Missile Launchers: Mounted in the upper part of the shoulder mounted box launchers. When not being fired, the launchers are protected by an armored hatch. Each launcher carries twelve medium range missiles for twenty-four total. There are twin controls which allow either the pilot or a gunner to operate the weapon system. Usually, most powerful warhead types are carried with smart missile guidance systems.
Maximum Effective Range: As per medium range missile type (See revised bomb and missile tables for details.)
Mega Damage: As per medium range missile type (See revised bomb and missile tables for details.)
Rate of Fire: One at a time or in volleys of two (2), four (4), eight (8), or twelve (12). The number of volleys a character can fire is equal to his combined hand to hand attacks per melee. One volley counts as one attack regardless of number of missiles.
Payload: Twelve (12) in each box launcher for twenty-four (24) medium range missiles total.
Two (2) Long Range Missile Launchers: Mounted in the lower part of the shoulder mounted box launchers. When not being fired, the launchers are protected by an armored hatch. Each launcher has a payload of eight long range missiles for sixteen missiles total. There are twin controls which allow either the pilot or a gunner to operate the weapon system. Usually, most powerful warhead types are carried with smart missile guidance systems.
Maximum Effective Range: As per long range missile type (See revised bomb and missile tables for details.)
Mega Damage: As per long range missile type(See revised bomb and missile tables for details.)
Rate of Fire: One at a time or in volleys of two (2), four (4), or eight (8.) The number of volleys a character can fire is equal to his combined hand to hand attacks per melee. One volley counts as one attack regardless of number of missiles
Payload: Eight (8) in each box launcher for sixteen (16) long range missiles total.
Hand-to-Hand Combat: Not considered especially effective in hand to hand combat.
Kick: 1D6 M.D.C.
Stomp: 2D6 M.D.C.
Body Block/Ram: 1D6 M.D.C. per 50 mph (80.5 kph).
